Meet Jake Ens

Experience & Background

Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, I went to undergraduate school at John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio. After graduating, I commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps where I deployed in 2011 to Lashkar Gah, Helmand Province, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In 2014, I left active duty to go to law school at Campbell University School of Law in Raleigh, North Carolina. After interning at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Tennessee, I decided to call Knoxville home. I began working at the Knox County District Attorney’s Office in January 2018, starting in the DUI unit before moving to the Felony Drug Unit, and finally to the Domestic Violence Unit where I tried everything from Aggravated Assault to Aggravated Kidnapping. In October 2022 I decided to enter private practice and joined Baker Foster Potter, P.C. specializing in criminal defense matters.
Currently I am a Major in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.

Philosophy & Approach

My philosophy, and my approach, is to be the hardest working person in the courtroom; to know my case better than the prosecutor does, and to always be one step ahead of them.
